About the Choir
The Metropolitan United Church Choir School (MUCCS) was founded in 2014 with the goal of providing professional musical training to thirty choristers drawn from the London, Ontario area. Our Choristers don't play at singing. They go out and do the same things that professional choirs do. They learn to read music as a language, translating the symbols on the page confidently into sound. They learn music theory and apply it to what we do each week. In other words, they get the same training a professional choir receives and this is because they are professionals. Our choir is not for everyone. We expect a high level of commitment on the part of both Choristers and their parents. Our choir is also not a 'fun activity' designed to fill time. We seek singers who can be invested for the long term. Previous musical experience or a particularly lovely voice are not requirements for joining. We will teach you what you need to know.
If you know a young person with a passion for singing quality music please have them get in touch. Membership in the Choir School is limited at any given time to thirty choristers grades 3 and up. The Choristers meet on Thursday evenings from 5:30-7:15, Monday and Tuesday afternoons from 4:30-5:30 and Wednesdays from 3:30-4:30. Choristers are expected to attend at least two rehearsals per week.
